On January 7. 1965, the COMELEC Employees Credit Cooperative Union, Inc. (CECCUI) was organized with fifteen (15) Incorporators and fifty-eight (58) members. It was organized to increase the income and the purchasing power of the members, encouraging savings to stimulate capital growth; extending loans to members for provident and productive purpose advancing cooperative investment as a means to improve the economic and social status of the people, and provide cooperative education and training to actual and potential members. through the years, the Union grew both in membership and in capital. As approved by its members through Special General Assembly, the Union was converted in a development cooperative. Thus on 17 October 1988, the organization was rename COMELEC Employees Development Cooperative, Inc.(CEDCI). Due to this conversion, the cooperative can now engage in any other business and is no longer limited to lending money to its members. Before reaching its 25th year, the members grew to ine hundred seventy (970) with operating capital of FIVE MILLION THREE HUNDRED NINE THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED THRITY-FOUR AND 24/100 PESOS(Php 5,309,234.24)
